These are my shaded shapes. I have a hard time with these. I never get the shading quite right and I have a hard time with the shadow as well. I don't know what shape to make the shadow of the lightness and darkness of the shape and shadow.
Did you use a source for inspiration, then combine it with your own ideas to make it original? Yes. I used the things on the table that Ms.Rossi provided and I sort of took the images and placed them in different places in my mind. I knew some of the things I would not be as strong drawing so I drew what I knew I was capable of drawing. I drew the flower, the basket, and the fabric. The flower was pretty easy to draw and I actually enjoyed drawing the basket. I liked trying to get the different lights and darks that it came with. I like shading the individual squares. The fabric was definitely the hardest for me because I tried to draw the lines on the fabric as well as the creases and folds. Did you gain skill with familiar materials? I was already familiar with graphite. I knew that shading needs to be added to drawings to get the real effect. I had a hard time with shading and still continue to but I think I am getting better. I know I really need to push those values. Like on the fabric, I know I need to push the values to get those folds that I want to create. It is hard to do that when the object already has design on them and you have to portray the design and demensions of the object. That is something I need to work on. But I would say I did gain skill with something I was already familiar with which was graphite. Did you pick a material or technique that was new or different over something that was familiar? I have never drawn something in real life before. Before this art class, I always drew pictures I saw on line. But this time I couldn't even take a picture of what I saw. I had to draw exactly what I was seeing. That was difficult for me. It is hard for me to decifer the size of the object in real life and put it on paper. I often would run the item off of the pages and restart. I don't think my picture looks anything like what was I front of me. Maybe that had to do with shading as well. I used black paper and white charcoal. I really like these two things together. I'm not good at shading with the white charcoal though. This was the fabric I drew. I used gray paper with white charcoal. I'm not good at this because I can't shade very well and I don't know how to portray all of the folds and creases. These are my contour hand drawings. These were difficult but easy at the same time. When you are drawings and looking away, you feel like you are drawing horribly but when you turn around to see it, it isn't as bad as you thought it would be. Drawing s contour line helps me make it more proportional. This was my contour room drawing. This one was so hard for me. It was really hard to determine the size of what I was drawing to put on paper. I didn't want to do the whole wall but I still wanted to add enough of the room. I did not do it very well. We had to draw a Bookbag contour picture and this was mine. We used my Bookbag for the example at my table. It was really easy, surprisingly. It was a little hard to make sure I was doing the zippers and all of the flaps correctly. |
