How did you use your own unique ideas in your work?
It was hard to know the exact deminsions for my drawing so I had to wing it. I had to kind of make up in my head how it looked in real life outside of the photo so I could draw it. It was hard to do that because it ended up throwing me off a little bit but I think it worked out well. I also did not have any idea on how to draw trees because in the photo, they are blurry and far away. All I did was just draw a few lines for the shape and I just shaded. I could have maybe done better with that. I liked this project.
Did you pick a material or technique that was new or different over something that was familiar?
I have never drawn all in pencil before. I really wanted to use prismacolor. I found the pencil would fade and smear with my hand. Some of the parts are hard to even tell that they are there. I wish I could have handled that better. I like drawing a lot and I hope I can get better with graphite. It is much easier to shade with graphite than I thought before and I have learned to shade with it much better than I used to.
How is this artwork about who you are or what you like?
This is art work is like me in a big way. This picture has my boyfriend handing from a bridge when he was in the Bahamas. His mom took this picture. This picture was my most favorite of all of the pictures I saw from the trip. I loved his smile so much. I was hoping to be able to draw it and give it to his when I was done. I wish the picture would have turned out better but I know he will like it no matter what.
